A substance believed to maintain life indefinitely; A substance or medicine believed to have the power to cure all ill; An underlying principle.

Elixir emerged from North Surrey in 2001 when Ross Archibald (Vocals), Chris Brams (Guitar/vocals) and Jason Scannell (Bass) met and began this journey now known as Elixir.

In September of 2002 Elixir adopted Damien Hendley (Drums) through an advertisement in the buy ‘n sell, only later to acquire close friend TJ Collier (Guitar/vocals).

The name Elixir was brought about when one day (Spring 2001) Jason and Ross were undertaking the process of creating a unique and original name for the band. They were striving for a three letter name, without reason, to provoke thought, and to take on the different variations and combinations of words that those outside the band would create without being lead. The letters that the band decided upon were V X R, Jason casually muttered "sounds like elixir" and the name derived from that moment on.

Once the inquiry began for the definition, it became all too apparent that this name was not only unique, yet it described the essence of the band and the focus of their music.

Upon the departure of two founding members, Chris & TJ, the band began another journey to find the missing elements. This path led them to Chris Shaw (Guitar-2005) whom produced a key ingredient and brought an experience to the previous Elixir, as it stood then, which only enhanced the sound.

With a new slate of efforts ahead, the band found it would be essential to locate that last piece to their puzzle to complete their sound. Derek Merrell (Guitar/Vocals-2005) was discovered and being a supporter of Elixir, was acquainted with the sound and mission which was the entire essence of Elixir.

Derek brought to the table a fundamental element that not only complimented the accomplished sound already founded by the previous members, therefore completing the framework that is now Elixir.

Elixir represents a blend of rock meets alternative with a funk driven perspective. There is a significant reliance upon percussion and lyrical to extend the sound beyond the previous boundaries. The lyrics alone evoke a momentary delay, in which one must process a sound unlike any other. With the variety of influences this band possesses, one can only wonder what Elixir has in store for their full length debut album (first 5 song demo released March 2004).

The story of Elixir is one that illustrates that rules are written by those who strive to be successful, to make a difference; not by those that let life happen.

Elixir is a band that breathes new energy into an industry that is chalk full of conformity. They stand behind their talent, and their skill to entertain as well as convey themselves through the music.
